Who's
Chance and what does he know about Texas Hold 'em Poker? I've been running one kind of computer or another almost 24 hours a day for more than a decade analyzing Texas Hold 'em poker. I have run billions of hands of hold 'em poker simulations. I ran computer hold 'em simulations for about two years before setting foot in a casino poker room. I did play hold 'em in a home game once a week with great people and great food, but at that time I had no experience in a real casino poker room. The limit in the home game was 10-20. That's ten cents and twenty cents, not dollars! I kept records of every dime won and lost and I was sure that my computer runs had produced an edge in Texas hold 'em poker. The cards don't know what the chips are worth! When a casino poker room opened not far from home, I decided to put my game to the test. That first night, I went to play with what I thought was an adequate bankroll of a thousand dollars and I was seated at a $3-$6 holdem table. I asked, but that poker room didn't have a game with a lower limit. I played my computer developed strategy unerringly for about eight hours. I had read a poker book and I even knew how to check raise. I lost $188. Undaunted, I returned to the poker room the following night and played Texas Hold 'em just as skillfully and just as fearlessly as the night before. I lost another $94. I was stuck more than a fourth of my bankroll after two nights of casino hold 'em poker! The third night I'm sure I saw dollar signs in the eyes of the other players when I walked into the poker room. I bought in for another rack and a stack ($200) and I was determined to make or break my bankroll playing my hold 'em strategy. Things changed that night. My big pairs held up. I flopped a few sets. Some of my flush draws got there. My bluffs were more successful. I won $332. I was out of the trap! That put me a big fifty bucks ahead and I haven't been behind in the game since. I was just a babe in the poker woods then, but I did have an edge and some money management. My game was good enough to win, but there's more winning information on this website than I had then. I hope you find something here to help your hold 'em game. |
