Although most poker books include a discussion about the nut hands in Texas Hold 'em Poker, most players learn from the conversation during the game. If you play poker online, you don't get much benefit from conversation with the other players.

This little nuts tutorial will bring you up to speed if you are a beginner and there's some good information for the experienced player as well. The more you know before you sit down at the poker table the better you will play.

The Texas Hold 'em Poker experts tell us that a nut hand is dealt less than one percent of the time. The exact percentage is unimportant, but it is somewhere between 0.9% and 1.0%. Some nut hands are surely folded and when you hear someone slap the table padding during the course of the hand, you can be reasonably sure that the player is upset about folding the nuts.

Something that occurs as infrequently as the nuts might seem unimportant, but when you are grinding out an edge in Texas Hold 'em Poker you don't want to overlook anything. If you have the nuts, but don't realize it, you will miss some bets and raises. A few additional bets in the pot can certainly improve your overall win rate. Those same bets and raises might be costly when you think you have the nuts, but you really don't.
